• The Collection of Microscopic Fungi of the Institute of Soil Biology AS CR (CMF ISB) was established in 1980.
• The CMF ISB was enriched by strains of ovicidal fungi isolated by Prof. MUDr. RNDr. Hynek Lýsek, DrSc. (University of Olomouc) in 1990.
• The Collection of Microscopic Fungi was included in the Federation of Czech and Slovak Collections of Microorganisms (FCCM) in 1993.
• The Collection of Microscopic Fungi was focused on microscopic predominantly filamentous fungi, the CMF consists of around 1400 strains of micromycetes (Zygomycotina, Ascomycotina and mitosporic fungi) – mainly isolated from soils of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Russia, U.S.A., and Macedonia, then isolated from air, litter, caves (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, France), intestine and excrements of soil invertebrates, vermicompost, etc.
• The strains are maintained in tubes on slope agar media in refrigerator at 4 oC. For long-term storage of sporulating strains a maintenance in alginate pellets are employed.
